From the horse’s mouth

Account Manager, Rebecca Ireland, graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a First Class Honours degree in MSc Public Relations in 2015.

She did four work placements while she was at uni which covered a variety of different types of PR. From spending a week looking after B2B and corporate PR, Rebecca gained experience across financial, property and environmental industries. She also spent a week in-house interning at a design agency. But it was a placement at another Manchester consumer PR agency that really set her pulse racing – after that week she knew that consumer PR was where her heart lay.

Rebecca said: “I saw that Brazen was offering an amazing internship as a competition. I couldn’t believe it when myself and another student were picked as winners. One of the highlights of the internship was spending time in the Dubai office as well as working on numerous events and campaigns. I truly got stuck in and wanted to show I was invaluable to the team. So much so that I was offered a job, and three years later I’m still here!

“I’ve since been promoted to account manager and am learning every single day. Have a watch of my video above to see what my top tips are for interviews and getting your first step on the ladder. And if you want to learn more, have a look at one of my blog posts from when I went back to see the students on my old course at Manchester Met University.”

We’ve also recruited a design apprentice, Niall, from Oldham College. Have a read about his experiences too if you’re thinking about an apprenticeship.
