Hails & Fails – April 25th 2025

In a week when the Magic Circle readmitted a woman who had disguised herself as a man to gain membership, BAFTA announced they were giving Kirsty Wark a prestigious fellowship and popstar Tom Fletcher finally revealed details of Paddington The Musical, it’s been an equally ambitious seven days for PR campaigns.

KitKat gave us chocolate instead of phones, Heinz made sachet opening easier and GambleAware turned heads with a poker chip sculpture. It was a terrible week for streaming channel Netflix though after they stunned fans with a tasteless tweet.

KitKat says scroll off and snack on this

We’re spending four hours a day hunched over our phones like gremlins in a group chat – so KitKat this week called time on our tech obsession.

In a bold new out-of-home stunt, the choccie-brand replaced phones with chunky chocolate bars, turning its iconic “Have a break” line into a literal, sweet reality.

It’s a cheeky wake-up call to put the screens down, pick up a KitKat, and remember what a real break tastes like. Your thumbs – and your neck – will thank you.

Heinz drops sauce-slaying grillz

Tired of wrestling ketchup packets with your teeth? Heinz gets it – so they’ve dropped custom tooth grillz made to rip them open like a boss.

Launched via influencers in Brazil, this Insta-ready stunt turns a daily frustration into a flex. Not for sale (yet) — but we’re ready to swap our molars for these.

Sauce. Drip. Activated.

Giant poker chip tower exposes the kids caught in the gambling game

An eye-popping 85,000-chip sculpture just landed at Westfield London – and every single chip represents a UK child harmed by gambling.

Launched by GambleAware with Lucky Generals, the shocking installation calls out a brutal truth: gambling harm isn’t just an adult problem.

With most Brits backing tougher ad rules and kids seeing betting ads before they’re 17, GambleAware is shouting loud: protect the young, smash the stigma, and stop the silence.

Netflix slammed for ‘Southport’ horror blunder

Netflix just put its foot firmly in it – promoting a slasher flick set in Southport with the caption: “This isn’t the first time there’s been violence like this in Southport.”

Problem? They meant Southport, North Carolina. UK fans immediately clocked the horrifying crossover with the real-life tragedy in Southport, Merseyside, where three young girls were stabbed last year.

Cue a totally understandable wave of fury online, branding the post “tasteless” and “myopic.”
