FACEBOOK PRIORITISES USERS IN RANKING CHANGE

It may not be new news but Facebook have officially announced changes to its ranking algorithm that prioritises person-to-person conversation over brand and publisher content. Although scary for brands, its not all doom and gloom with tactics in both organic and paid being the antidote for depleted reach. Speak to us if you’d like to hear more about Brazen can help.

OVER TO THE USER AND INFLUENCER

If the above news tells us anything it’s that the power of the user – and in turn the influencer – is only going to grow in 2018. We have seen stats emerge that show people trust user generated content (UGC) over brand-first content and that translates directly into engagement in the news feed. Something we are always considering for clients as we help them own the screen on social.

ANOTHER TOUGH WEEK FOR SNAPCHAT

2017 wasn’t the triumph it was meant to be for Snap Inc. The IPO created headlines but Spectacles did little for sales and questions still exist over its long-term impact on social users. The bad news continued to roll in this week with reports that only 20% of users consume content daily on their Discover tab and their planned redesign has been slated in user group tests. The future of Snap Inc. is definitely one to watch this year, a topic I covered in my 2018 predictions blog last week.
