ARE YOU IN THE #KEEPFACEBOOK OR #DELETEFACEBOOK CAMP?

Last week, scandal hit Facebook as it found itself in a web of regulation following a huge data breach. Third party app developers were shown to be harvesting unconsented user’s data and manipulating for marketing purposes.
As a result, ex- WhatsApp owner, Brian Acton, called for users to #DeleteFacebook.

TWITTER TO EXPAND VERIFICATION TO ALL USERS

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, declared last week that the platform will be extending the blue checkmark verification process to all users, with plans ‘set to be scalable’.
By making the verification process more accessible, ‘Twitter intends to shift the focus of the designation away from any presumption of endorsement and emphasise proof of identity’.

INSTAGRAM IS CHANGING THE WAY YOU SEE YOUR NEWSFEED

Instagram announced last week that it’s giving users greater control of their newsfeed. The platform is planning to introduce a ‘new posts’ button. The button will allow users to choose when they want to refresh, rather than it happening automatically. If users tap the button, they’ll be taken to new posts- don’t tap, and they’ll stay where they are.
