THE CONTINUED IMPORTANCE OF PAID IN 2018
Recent algorithm changes at Facebook HQ have prioritised community and conversation in the newsfeed but the talk of all things PAID are not going away. Quite the opposite. In a recent post by eMarketer, it was predicted that Facebook will capture 18.4% of the total global digital ad market in 2018. Another signal that investment in content equals investment in paid advertising with Facebook this year.

Although owned by Facebook, Instagram are revelling in the continued conversation about depleted reach for brands on Facebook. Headlines appear every day about increased reach and increased engagement for brands willing to invest time and energy in a visual-first approach. Question marks remain over one of the longest serving names in social but the Little Blue Bird is continuing to push new features to earn back market share. The latest test is a camera-based tool to enable users to share video quicker, similar to Snapchat’s swipe to open camera option. Details are unknown at the moment but watch this space.
