MANCHESTER’S BEST BARS

Manchester is blessed with a fantastic nightlife scene and an abundance of bars, from the stylish, to the quirky, to the utterly Instagrammable.

Being a Manchester-based PR agency, we’re lucky enough to get to experience many of these bars, whether it’s managing the PR launch events, attending new openings, or enjoying a Thirsty Thursday tipple with the team! Work hard, play hard right?

Here’s a round-up of 10 of our favourite bars in the city (if we had to pick just 10!)

Albert’s Schloss

Albert’s Schloss has very quickly made its mark as one of the most popular venues in the city, with a Bavarian-style menu and entertainment including live music and cabaret (not to mention the gorgeous flower embellished entrance!) Describing itself as a Bohemian bier palace, it’s certainly brought something fresh to Manchester.

Alston Bar & Beef

As the PR agency for Corn Exchange, we’re luckily in on the secret of one of Manchester’s most discrete bars. Alston’s 1837 ‘speakeasy’ gin bar is underground, hidden behind a black curtain in a nod to the prohibition era. It’s the perfect space for events or to get away for a sneaky gin – the Cathedral Honey Bees Knee’s gin cocktail is made with honey from Manchester Cathedral and is an absolute delight!

Flight Club

Nightlife has changed massively over the last five years; people no longer want to go out and simply drink. With the rising demand for ‘activities’ on nights out, we’re seeing bars with mini golf, board games or even baseball crop up more and more. Flight Club is one of the newest to the Manchester scene and might just be the hottest bar on everyone’s lips right now. Perfect for groups, we tested it out for a Brazen social and everyone had fun (whether they were good at darts or not!). Great food, a wonderful atmosphere and a welcome addition to the city.

20 Stories

One of the most anticipated launches of 2018, 20 Stories might just have the most stylish terrace in the city. With views across Manchester, the rooftop bar has a garden, outdoor BBQs and al fresco fireplaces. It’s awash with keen Instagrammers taking carefully styled photos with their champagne cocktails. But you can also simply get cosy with a blanket and a glass of wine.

Dirty Martini

Brazen managed the launch party for this stylish bar back in 2017 and the recognisable angel wings have since become an Instagram icon in the city. With 15 different martinis to choose from (my personal favourite is blood orange and vanilla), stylish décor and great music, it’s helped to bring some life back to Deansgate / Peter Street area.

The Liars Club

Tiki bars were once one of the hottest trends in nightlife and we’d like to think tiki is still a thing. The Liars Club is one of Manchester’s original tiki bars and is as popular as ever. It’s hidden underground and has some of the best music in the city matched with delicious rum cocktails. The flamin’ zombies are a popular choice on a Brazen PR social night out!

Bay Horse Tavern

One of our favourite spots for lunch or after work drinks, the Bay Horse Tavern makes you feel as though you’re in a cosy pub in the countryside, not in the middle of the city centre. The gins and craft beers are reasonably priced, and there’s a great offer at lunchtime for a pie and a pint (the best pie in Manchester might I add!).

Matt and Phreds

With live jazz, funk and soul music, Matt and Phreds is based in the Northern Quarter and has plenty of style. The established music venue has a range of wines and pizzas on offer and puts on live gigs six nights a week. Offering something different for a night out, the bar is growing in popularity and helping to introduce a younger audience to the classic jazz scene.

Impossible

A popular haunt for the Brazen gang, Impossible is based in the Great Northern Warehouse and has a hidden ‘gin palace’ with 84 different gins. The underground theatre includes a catwalk, cinema and private booths making it one of the ultimate bars in Manchester for entertainment.

The Refuge by Volta

The Refuge is one of my favourite bars due to its laidback vibe, music and stunning décor. Its sophisticated style is completely different to anything else in the city. Perfect for a relaxing drink with friends or colleagues, the bar has plenty of gorgeous spaces available for events and parties.
